IMSA Signs & Pavement Markings Technician 2
The IMSA Signs & Pavement Markings Technician II certification is an advanced level that expands upon the knowledge base of the Signs & Pavement Markings I Certification. It is designed for professionals tasked with the installation and maintenance of road signs and pavement markings, aiming to achieve a higher level of professional certification.
Description
The certification covers the additional technical knowledge and skills needed to design and manufacture signs, layout pavement markings and manage a preventative maintenance program. It also certifies that the IMSA Signs & Pavement Markings Technician has a deeper understanding of the standards for applying signs and pavement markings in line with the MUTCD and other references.
This certification also focuses on:
- sign specifications for guide and route signs, street name signs, speed zones,
- needs for freeways and expressways, special toll managed lanes, and attention to location and design specifications
- the higher knowledge and skill sets necessary for pavement marking design, installation, and upkeep
- safety procedures for the safe installation of pavement markings. Topics covered include colors, material safety, retro reflectivity, pavement marking visibility an freeway/expressway markings
Prerequisites
Current IMSA Signs & Pavement Markings Technician I.
Two years of experience is required within Signs & Pavement Markings operations.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Students holding a non-IMSA Work Zone are required to upload their certificate to their IMSA profile for review and approval. Florida students can continue to submit the FDOT Intermediate Temporary Traffic Control (or higher), ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor, etc.
